Okay so im pretty sure most of you have seen this show before, and if you haven’t it’s just a show that films the lives of little girls who participate in beauty pageants. I find this show completely horrifying. These children are forced to be paraded around like they’re some kind of barbie doll. It’s completely sad. Often on the show many of them complain about having to wear all the make up or putting on the pouffy dresses and are often seen throwing tantrums because they really aren’t in the mood to do a pageant. It’s sad to see the parent’s coax and force their children to go through with the pageants as the little toddlers cry. Not only is it a shame that these poor little girls have to endure the stress and charade of the pageants, but do these parents even know the message they are sending to their daughters?

I bet they really don’t. All these beauty pageants teach to girls is that beauty is the most important thing you have to offer. It makes them think that beauty only comes in one form and that if you look the best, you are rewarded for it and you win. This message is highly dangerous, since these girls are highly impressionable and are at the age that you just absorb everything like a sponge.

It makes me sick to see these children being dressed and costumed to look like grown women. Can you imagine being dressed like that at age 3? They’re completely sexualized and objectified when they are only babies, and thats a shame. I find it completely disgusting. These poor girls deserve to act like children and enjoy the fun of childhood instead of embracing womanhood before they even have their periods. I believe it can be really damaging and messages like these can take a toll on them as they grow older.
